I woke up to someone saying, "Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
When I opened my eyes, I saw a female nurse at my side. She gave a sigh of relief, and I looked around to find myself in what appeared to be a small hospital room. However, the light was somewhat dim, and I asked her, "Where am I? Who are you?"
She replied, "I'm Nurse Helen. You're in the hospital…You and several other children were attacked by monsters who claim to be after 'The Chosen Few'…However, you were the only survivor. You've suffered a lot of injuries, and I'm surprised that you're even alive."
I stared at Nurse Helen, shocked. I was in the hospital…but where exactly? What did she mean? Monsters attacked me and several others?
I started to get up, but Nurse Helen forced me back down onto the bed.
"You shouldn't move! Do you want to injure yourself even further?!"
It was then that I realized that I was covered in bandages. The nurse was right…
However, the door was broken open and strange creatures entered the small room. Nurse Helen stood in front of the bed in an attempt to shield me. The creatures laughed at this, and one of them spoke.
"We've come for the child. Hand him over and you'll be spared."
Nurse Helen shouted, "I won't let you harm this child! He's innocent! Why would you go after children anyway?! You have no heart…"
The creatures made a path for a much larger one to come through...their leader, most likely…and their leader said, "The Chosen Few cannot possibly be allowed to live. They possess abilities that could save this pathetic planet from destruction. Our Leader does not want that to happen."
To my confusion and relief, Nurse Helen did not move. Instead, she said, "You're heartless, all of you! To think of killing the innocent and destroying our planet…"
The leader of these creatures took out a spear from behind him and stabbed the nurse through the chest…and it went through her back…
Blood spewed everywhere, and a lot of it landed on me. I screamed, "Nurse Helen!"
The leader pointed at me and shouted, "Seize him! Our Leader will make sure that this one dies at his own hands…"
I was grabbed and taken from the hospital, and my struggles were futile. I glanced back at Nurse Helen's body, horrified…Someone died at the hands of these creatures…just to allow me to live…
I felt a mixture of sorrow and rage…and I felt the emotion becoming pure, uncontrolled energy…
The next thing I knew, my body was glowing with raw emotion and energy, and I heard one of the creatures yelling, "He's awakened!"
I was dropped, and I felt as if I would explode at any moment…instead, I stood up and screamed, "Astral Aura!"
There was an explosion of light, and the creatures screamed as they were consumed by it.
After a minute, the light faded and I saw that I was alone; the creatures must have been vaporized…or something similar…
My bandages had vanished, too; I was healed. However, I suddenly felt weak, and I fell over. I tried to stay awake, and I eventually heard a female voice…
"Oh my…You're another one of 'The Chosen Few'!"
I felt a hand on my forehead and heard the female voice say, "Restoration Beta!"
I felt myself become somewhat energized, and I sat up to see a girl around my age. I instantly asked, "Who are you?"
She gave a grin and said, "What, I don't even get a 'Thank you'?"
I apologized, to which she giggled and said, "It's okay. I'm Crystal, by the way."
I blurted out, "I'm Drarin."
Crystal helped me up and I asked, "Who exactly are 'The Chosen Few'?"
She looked at me, shocked, before asking, "Are you serious? You don't know?"
I told her that I was, indeed, serious. She sighed and explained, "'The Chosen Few' are individuals who have been chosen by a higher entity to save the world from destruction. These individuals are born with supernatural abilities, but their abilities are locked until needed. When their abilities are unlocked, 'The Chosen Few' must find each other and team up to save the world. You, Drarin, are one of them."
I was stunned. How could I be one of 'The Chosen Few'?
As if reading my mind, Crystal said, "I don't know how 'The Chosen Few' are chosen, but it must be something within…I'm one of them, too, by the way."
"So if I'm one of them…What do I do? I don't even know how…"
"You only know one ability now, but don't worry; as we progress through our adventure to find the others, you'll unlock more."
I nodded, and we made our way throughout the world. Together, Crystal and I traveled across the land. We came across many monsters that wanted to eliminate us, but, as a team, we overcame even the toughest of opponents. Eventually, we met up with two others: Kyle and Ryan.
Kyle was a boy who was much older than us and wielded a sword that he had enchanted with electricity. Kyle possessed electrical abilities, and he was the strongest of us in physical strength.
Ryan was different. He was slightly older than Crystal and I, but he was more of an inventor. He had the ability to move objects with his mind, but he mostly created useful items for our adventure.
The four of us children - The Chosen Few - had finally joined up together as a team. Our friendship and teamwork was put to the test several times; as we came closer to our main opponent, we were thrown into many battles. At times, it seemed as if we had a disadvantage, but we pulled through in the end…together…
All four of us gained experience together, and we grew stronger as one. Eventually, we made it to a teleportation device and were warped away to the final boss…Our final battle.
We made it onto the Boss's ship and defeated several of his minions…When we finally made it to his room, we were forced to listen to his "Evil Villain Speech"…and then he struck first.
The Boss was an alien-esque creature, and he sent out some sort of energy attack at Ryan, who dodged it…Kyle unsheathed his sword and dashed forward, ready to strike…however, the Boss put up an energy shield, deflecting Kyle's attack and sending him back into a wall.
It got worse from there; every attack we tried to hit the Boss with was deflected…and we kept getting hit…
Crystal healed us when we started to sustain serious damage, and I blurted, "Astral Shield Upsilon!"
A large shield appeared over us JUST as the Boss shot out his most powerful attack, and it deflected off of my shield…and shattered his own.
At this, he started cursing and we attacked him with everything we had…
When it appeared that we had won, the Boss sent out a large blast of energy that nobody could have avoided…
Everyone was critically injured…and our opponent was laughing…and it seemed that we had failed…
The Boss said, "I will finally put an end to 'The Chosen Few'! I'll start with the girl first. You boys watch as I destroy your precious healer…"
Kyle and Ryan screamed at him to leave Crystal alone, and I could see that Crystal was scared…
…Even though it hurt to move, I stood up and shouted, "Astral Storm Omega!"
Beams of astral energy shot at the Boss from every direction, consuming him. The Boss screamed as he was destroyed, and there was a bright light that engulfed us all…
…
…When the light faded, the Boss was gone…he had been obliterated…
Everyone was healed, and Crystal ran over to me and gave me a hug that nearly crushed my ribs…
I heard Ryan say, "Psh…some guys get all the luck…"
Kyle laughed, and Crystal and I blushed…and Crystal let me go after that comment…
We said our farewells, and Crystal said, "I hope to see all of you again sometime…"
With that, everyone nodded, and we were teleported out of the ship…
